The act of constructing the Kalachackra is considered a path to enlightenment. In its most basic form, the Kalachakra is an image of the universe based on an unending circle and a square. The circle represents the divine and the square is a symbol for the earth. For Loheed, the act of creation begins with a line drawing of a web-like geometric field that is erased, blurred, blotted out, etched, and clarified with thick and thin layers of wet media. The geometric shapes created become scaffolding, allowing you to enter into her personal map of time and space. Fragile layers of paint and traveling mark-making are added to create both a mask and a window into a world that allows for transformation.<br /><br />Two paintings and six drawings are on display in the Gallery at Inman Square, September 10th – December 10th, 2010.
